Florence was the venue for Matt and Lynn’s big day in September 2017 – it was such a beautiful day in a beautiful city. It was a huge privilege to photograph their wedding; my first destination wedding and I actually think I left a little bit of my own heart in the gorgeous Tuscan city.

The bride and groom tied the knot at Hotel Villa La Vedetta, a wonderful Neo-Renaisance Villa, which is set high up above the city – giving breath-taking panoramic views of Florence – a photographer’s dream!

Lynn and Matt picked this venue after accidentally finding it on Tripadvisor, Lynn said: “We fell in love with the venue online when we accidentally stumbled onto it on a Tripadvisor review and once we saw it, there was never anywhere else for us. It was beautiful and classic, just what we’d dreamed of.”

“On the day, all I could think was that I was so happy, nothing was going to burst my bubble, not a power outage halfway through my hair, or a lightening storm.”

As Lynn says, we were a little worried about the weather on the day as the brilliant blue skies we’d enjoyed on the pre-wedding engagement shoot were not as obliging on the wedding morning itself. As luck would have it there was no rain until much later in the evening and so I managed to get the brilliant clear skies just with a smattering of fluffy white cloud in the wedding photos.

The gorgeous Italian gardens provided a stunning focal point for the ceremony itself, which was led by the lovely Diane Rossi a celebrant from Blessings From Italy.

Diane said: “Lynn and Matt had my heart from the outset. They are beautiful people and deserved a fabulous wedding memory. I am touched and grateful to have played a small part in a day of immense happiness. Danny was the most considerate and courteous photographer and I sincerely hope our paths will cross again.”

The terrace was just perfect for the panoramic couple shots of the new Mr and Mrs Griffin . What I like most about the photos of the two of them is how in love they are, the emotion is almost tangible – these are the sorts of shots that every photographer desperately hopes to get at each wedding; the type of wedding photos that provide memories for a lifetime.

Lynn says that the best part of the wedding day was having their friends and family with them to celebrate. Both Matt and Lynn have endured a difficult few years, including the loss of some of their closest relatives, so to see them relax and enjoy the day actually brought a tear to my eye.

Lynn said: “Matt says he was emotional because of the loved ones that weren’t going to be with us but excited and ready to enjoy it. The best part was having the people most important to us there with us in the city we love most in the world.”

I’d like to wish both of them all the best for their new adventure as a married couple and to say thanks for booking me to be a part of their special day.
