Engagement shoot at Cantley Park
You’d be forgiven for thinking it was autumn by looking at the photos from Darren and Denise’s engagement shoot at Cantley Park from the weekend.
The colours are beautiful rich oranges and browns complemented by a hint of fresh green but, despite these traditional autumn colours, spring was definitely in the air when we met at the Wokingham venue for their engagement shoot and pre-wedding run-through.
We explored the green open spaces at Cantley Park, which is where their wedding will be held in May, to find lots of special nooks for their keepsake photos. It was really nice to take the time to get to know the couple as well as really look around where we can get those all important post ceremony-shots on the big day.
Cantley Park is a really popular venue for weddings and I’ve photographed many lovely couples as they tied the knot there, but this was my first engagement shoot at the Berkshire country house hotel.
I’ve blogged before about the importance of engagement shoots – often called pre-wedding shoots- and my reasoning for why it is so important still stands. In my opinion they are an essential part in getting to know a couple before the big day – it allows me to get to know how they look and feel in front of the camera so that we can get the best photos possible on the wedding day itself.
Engagement shoots help brides and grooms to relax in front of the camera too, as they’ve already had a mini rehearsal the awkwardness and stiffness, which can ruin wedding photos, doesn’t materialise. For me it’s really important that everyone feels as comfortable as possible and enjoys the experience. This is all part of the package. Nobody wants to feel uncomfortable on their wedding day.
