Why not pop over to Real Wedding for some much need inspiration – their handy tips and tricks will help you shave some of the pounds offs, plus you can delve into their ultimate guide, which gives you 50 ways to save money and much, much more.

My lovely friend Lucy runs Real Wedding, launching the concept while she planned her own wedding way back in 2010. I was really lucky that Lucy and her hubby-to-be really believed in me way back then and gave me the chance to shoot their big day as my first professional wedding photography job.

While it was nerve-wracking it was also very exciting and I’m so thankful that Lucy gave me that opportunity, which ultimately helped to kick-start my career.

Just recently, I was really pleased to look back at some of the photos from their big day at Polhawn Fort in Cornwall  when Real Wedding was feature in Prima Magazine online – showcasing some of Lucy’s top tips and money-savers.

It feels like a life-time ago as I’ve been so lucky to have worked with so many other brides and grooms since then, but, as they say, you never forget your first!

While Real Wedding does provide budget-busting tips, one of the areas that Lucy and the team advises not cutting back on is professional photography – music  to my ears!

I whole-heartedly agree, not just because it’s my industry and livelihood but it is one of those areas where people I know have decided against hiring a professional and absolutely regretted it afterwards.  As Real Wedding says:

“It is crucial to have a good photographer. I have personally been at weddings with no professional photographer, where members of the family took all the pictures. The effects were terrible! Of course, hiring a professional photographer can seem expensive, but having a wonderful record of the day is worth the cost.”

Give me a call or drop me an email if you’d like a non-obligatory quote – for those on a budget I do offer mid-week and seasonal discounts.

For old time’s sake, here are a few of my favourites from the beautiful first wedding I photographed professional…
